Obituary

Arline R. Spooner, 88, of Derry, NH, died Saturday June 4, 2011 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. She was born in Manchester, NH on August 19, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Mary C. (Schroeder) Joyce. She had been a resident of Derry for most of her life, formerly living in Manchester. Mrs. Spooner retired from Hadco Printed Circuits in Derry in 1987, and had formerly worked for Jodie Shoe and Chelmsford Shoe both in Derry. She had been member of the Spacetown Squares, a square dancing group in Derry, the Derry Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" L. Bunker of Derry; two grandchildren, Arline "Candy" DeLanoy of Derry, James DeLanoy and his wife Heather of Derry; three great grandchildren, Rachael DeLanoy-Whitted of Derry, Alex DeLanoy of Hope Mills, NC, and James DeLanoy, Jr. of Derry; two brothers, John Joyce of Londonderry, NH, and Francis Joyce of Iowa, LA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Howard J. Spooner in 2004, her daughter Wanda Lee Spooner in 1954, two brothers and two sisters.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
