WILMINGTON-Ruth D. (LaFreniere) Maher, 72, a longtime Tewksbury resident died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, at Saints Medical Center. She was the wife of the Late James Maher Sr. Ruth was born in Malden on May 12, 1939 the daughter of the late Paul and Rosemary (Lyons) LaFreniere. She was raised in Malden and Graduated Malden High. She moved to Tewksbury in 1964 and worked as a secretary for the Tewksbury Public Schools. Ruth retired as the owner of Journeys Unlimited, a travel agency in Tewksbury. Besides Traveling the world she enjoyed bingo and adored her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by a loving son and daughter in law James J. and his wife Maura (Caveney) Maher of Bedford, NH; two beloved daughters and sons in law Judith (Maher) and her husband George Roth of Plymouth, MA, and Suzanne (Maher) and her husband Daniel Blackwell of Wilmington,MA. Two brothers Richard "Ricky" LaFreniere of Nevada and Paul LaFreniere of Oklahoma; A sister and a nephew Cynthia Pisco and her son James Pisco both of Winthrop,MA. Seven grandchildren Charissa, Joseph, and James Maher III, Melissa, George, and Jessica Roth, and Thomas Blackwell. A sister in law Mary Willis of Nashua. At her request all services will be private.
