Alice E. Pope, 103, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Monday, June 6, 2011 until the funeral hour.
Mrs. Pope was born March 22, 1908 in Bleckley County, Georgia to the late George Frank and Martha Ann Crosby Williams. She worked at White Swan Cleaners, Fair Store, Hail Drugs, Belks Department Store in Fitzgerald, McClellands 5 & 10, and later worked with the Foster Grandparents program at the Colony Home Day Care and Public Schools. Mrs. Pope was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Smith of Augusta; grandchildren: Tony & Belinda Tucker of Fitzgerald, Connie & LeRoy Davidson of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Dorothy Jane Smith of Augusta, seven great grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nathan “Doc” Pope, one daughter Elene Tucker, one grandson Tom Smith, two sisters, and one brother.
