TAUNTON – Filomena I. (Ferriera) Fontes Lewallen, wife of Charles Lewallen, died at Morton Hospital and Medical Center on June 3, 2011.
She was 57 years old.
Born in Taunton, Mrs. Lewallen was the daughter of the late Antonio and Gloria (DeSousa) Ferriera.
She was raised and educated in Taunton.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, she had worked for the former Thomas Paper Box Co. of Taunton, and Texas Instruments.
As a young lady she worked on her parent’s farm and later enjoyed cooking, cleaning, needlepoint, and gardening.
She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Lewallen was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and was a member of the Holy Society.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she is survived by three sons, Manuel Fontes of Fall river, Jose Fontes of Taunton, and Jonathan Crites of Middleboro; one daughter, Mary Jo Fontes of Taunton; a brother, Adam Ferriera; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Antonio Ferriera, Jeremiah Ferriera, and Mary G. DaCosta.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton on Thursday, June 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
