Anthony J. “Tony” Cataldo age 85, of Brockton, died Thursday June 2, 2011 at Kindred Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband for 57 years of Phyllis B. (Luongo) Cataldo. Tony was born and raised in the North End of Boston a son of the late Amato and Nunzia (Rizzo) Cataldo. For the past 47 years he has been a resident of Brockton.
Following his graduation from Boston English High, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a radioman in the African and European Theatres. Tony retired in 1985 from the Defense Logistics Agency and previously had worked for many years at the Boston Naval Yard, Shop 67. In his retirement Tony enjoyed working around his home both inside and out. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved his dogs especially his beloved Teddy. Tony will be remembered as an easy going and dependable man who above all enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children Elena Cadman and her husband Gary of Norwell, Anthony Cataldo, Jr. of Lakeville and Robert Cataldo and his wife Karen of Attleboro. He was the grandfather of James and Steven Cataldo and brother of Jean Luongo of Brockton. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis and Marie Cataldo, Camille Colarusso and Phyllis Spinale.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-6 pm. Funeral Service in the funeral home Monday at 12:30 pm followed by burial in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 pm.
