Joseph J. Sestito, Jr., 81, died at his Taunton home on June 2, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Adele (Balzi) Sestito with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Malden, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Elisabetta (Gulla) Sestito of Calabria, Italy.
Formerly of Readville and Stoughton, he moved to Taunton in 2001.
He attended schools in Boston.
Mr. Sestito was a Mason for Local #52 of Quincy, for over 30 years before retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod and New Hampshire with his family, and was an avid sports fan.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Joseph F. Sestito of Norton, three daughters, Linda Sestito of Florida, Jane Hall of Hanson, and Cherylann Corr of Raynham. He is also survived by his brother Rudolph Sestito of Stoughton.
He was the beloved grandfather of seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sestito was also the brother of the late Frank Sestito, Antoinette Mahanna, and Theresa Caizza.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, June 6th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be private.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 5th from 4 to 8 p.m.
