Obituary

Dudley, MA / Plant City FL - Jeanne Alice (Rheaume) Pikora, 72, passed away on Wednesday, May 25th at South Florida Baptist Hospital after a short illness. Her husband of 30 years, Joseph T. Pikora, died in 1990.

She is survived by her 4 children; Dennis Pikora of Cary North Carolina; Cindy King and Sandra Lord of Townsend Massachusetts; and Debra Levesque of Hollis New Hampshire; a brother, David Rheaume of Fort Myers, FL; 2 sisters, Claire Gedman and Dorothy Rheaume both of Worcester; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 9 nieces and nephews; her companion, Guy DeFlorio.

Jeanne was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on June 5, 1938, a daughter of William and Mabel (Pepin) Rheaume.

She lived in Dudley, Massachusetts, for most of her adult life. Jeanne raised her family while volunteering at Saint Anthony’s Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She took pride in her sewing, crocheting, and cake decorating skills. Jeanne loved to learn new things; over the years she took guitar lessons and courses in Spanish, cooking, photography, and nursing. She later worked in the office at Oakwood Convalescent Home in Webster, MA and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA. Upon retirement, she moved to Plant City, Florida. She continued her community involvement by volunteering at South Florida Baptist Hospital, reading to children in the ESL Program at Saint Clements Church and serving as Vice- President of the Plant City Art Guild. Her favorite activities broadened to include golf, shuffleboard, bingo, and cribbage. She also enjoyed travelling and was especially fond of cruises. Jeanne was an avid reader and always had a book in her hand. Her longtime hobby and passions were drawing and painting. She will be missed by all who knew her.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 10th from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster, Massachusetts, with a Mass at 10:00 AM to honor Jeanne's life at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 15 Lake Street, Webster, Massachusetts. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley, Massachusetts. Calling hours will be on Thursday June 9th from 7:00-9:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library, 40 Schofield Avenue, Dudley, MA 01571 care of Matt Hall, Library Director.
