Obituary

Gail Marie (Greene) Hanscom, 63, died on Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Douglas Hanscom, USAF (ret).
Born in Newport, RI on Aug. 3, 1947, she was the daughter of Edith (Shaw) Greene of Danvers and the late Donald Greene, (USN/Army National Guard) (ret). She was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School in 1966. She went on to study fashion retailing at the Essex Agricultural School in Danvers.
Along with her mother, she is survived by three sons and a daughter, Ryan Hanscom of Danvers, Jeremy Hanscom of Alabama, Jason Hanscom, (USN) and his wife Kimberley, (USN) of Maryland, Rori Cutrer and her husband Todd, (U.S. Army) of Germany, two sisters, Marcia Greene of Danvers and Donna Swain of Danvers, four grandchildren, Justin Hanscom, Eireanne and Katie Cutrer and Alyssa Hanscom. She also leaves her two nephews, Cameron and Patrick Swain his wife Erica and her dearest friend of 50 years Paula Ferris, several aunts, uncles and cousins and her beloved cat Tiggy. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Hannah Hanscom .
Gail was a very creative and a talented crafter as evidenced by her awesome holiday decorations especially Halloween. She was an avid Red Sox fan and big fan of DNLL baseball. While her children were growing up, she was actively involved in their sports teams as a “Team Mom” and a “Band Mom”. She became famous for her “Egg Rolls” after she had made over 300 of them for a band fundraiser. Many of her children’s friends called her their “2nd Mom”. In addition to sports, she loved musicals, especially “Wicked”. She and Paula never missed their annual ritual to see it! She loved playing “Farmville” and watching “Glee”. Over the last few years she reconnected with many of her classmates on Facebook. She looked forward to her breakfasts at Chuck’s. She was very patriotic and supported the U.S. Armed Forces.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, preferably in casual attire. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gail’s name to Operation Troop Support, c/o 16 Trinity St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or Strays in Need, P.O. Box 223, Danvers, MA, 01923.
