Lillie Mae Luke, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, January 30, 2004 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside Services will be held 2 PM, Monday, February 2, at Arbor Cemetery, Fitzgerald, with Rev. John K. Mobley officiating. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 Sunday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Luke was born in Aiken County, South Carolina, to the late Daniel Roscoe Arowood, Sr. and Arva Alice Rutland Arowood. Mrs. Luke worked for 28 years at Fitzgerald Mills and was employed with H.R. Kaminsky & Son for 17 years. She had lived in the community most of her life, was of the Baptist faith, and was a family person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy Luke, four sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include: two daughters: Elaine L. (Ralph) Ellington of Albany and Lynne L. Cox of Fitzgerald; one son: James Daniel “Danny” (Amanda) Luke of Fitzgerald; one step-son: Charles “Buddy” Luke of Valdosta; four grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Jesse Arowood of White Pond, SC, Daniel Roscoe Arowood, Jr. of Blackshear, and Roy Arowood of Fitzgerald. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
