SHERLOCK - Maurice “Bud” Sherlock, 82, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach. He moved to Fernandina Beach 15 years ago from Philadelphia, PA and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Mr. Sherlock loved baseball and was passionate about the statistical aspects of the sport. When he was a child he spent many Sundays with his father at the baseball games which fueled his life-long love of family and the American pastime. Bud was a committed (and sometimes long-suffering)Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan. He was also a pioneer in computer technology. His computer expertise enabled him to greatly improve police and emergency response times for the Philadelphia Police Department and other emergency responders. He also taught computer technology.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jean Sherlock of Fernandina Beach, FL; four sons, Larry Stapleton of Hollywood , FL, Alan Stapleton, Jerry Stapleton and Frank Sherlock, all of Philadelphia, PA; a nephew, Steve McCann and a niece, Linda McCann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY), June 1, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 505 Broome St, Fernandina Beach, FL with Father Jose Kallukalam, celebrant.
