Barbara A. (Sullivan) Simon of West Roxbury, passed away on May 29, 2011. She was 83 years old.
Born in Dorchester, Barbara was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She married Harry Simon in 1949, and they settled in Boston.
Barbara was a former homemaker and retired parking supervisor for the City of Boston. She was an active member of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church in West Roxbury, where she founded an outreach program that served hundreds of area seniors each week. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Society and the Order of Saint Ignatius of Antioch, an international philanthropic organization. Barbara was an avid reader, gardener and cook, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Barbara was the dear and devoted wife of the late Harry K. Simon. Loving mother of Linda Simon and her life partner Cameron Wilder of Cambridge, Joseph Simon and his wife Susan of OH, Christine Bezreh and her husband James of Needham, and Rema Kaleel and her husband Kenneth of FL. Cherished grandmother, “Tete” of Khalil, Gabrielle, Ali, Ananda, Jhyana, Michael, Matthew, Jacqueline, Nicholas and Alexandra. Beloved great-grandmother of Zachary, Ixel, Noah and Ariana. Dear sister of Evelyn Giuffre, Helen Happel, Virginia Goldberg, Joyce Glassman, Ruth Sullivan, Marilyn Strachan, Gloria McNeeley and the late Betty LeClair, Phyllis Sweeney, and John, Albert, Paul, Norma and Jonathan Sullivan. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara's Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church 55 Emmonsdale Rd. WEST ROXBURY.
