Obituary

Edith L. “Sue” (Vorce) Shagoury, 76, a lifelong resident of Natick, passed away on May 28, 2011 after a courageous three year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert I. Shagoury, Sr. who passed away in 1992 and with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.

Daughter of the late Glenn Ora Vorce and Mary Marjorie (Campbell) Vorce, Mrs. Shagoury was educated in the Natick Public Schools and a 1952 graduate of Natick High School. She was employed for New England Telephone Co. where she held several titles over her 30 years of service. She began working as a telephone operator, moving on to directory assistance and engineer support staff. Mrs. Shagoury was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Shagoury cherished time spent with family and friends. She loved gardening and bird watching. Playing the piano and singing where two of her passionate pastimes. Everyone enjoyed her experienced hand in the kitchen with everything from rainbow trout to venison stew and her personal favorite, stuffed grape leaves.

She was the devoted mother of Pamela Ryan and her husband Kevin of Medway, Debra O’Reilly and her husband Brian of Natick, and Robert I. Shagoury, Jr. of Medway; cherished grandmother of Daniel Ryan and his wife Kendra, Rebecca Purcell and her husband Robert, Sarah Ryan, Erin Ryan, Susan O’Reilly, Atlantis Shagoury, and Auburn Shagoury; and dear sister of Glenn Vorce and his wife Audrey of Ladson, SC, Arnold Vorce and his wife Nancy of Marlboro, Francis Vorce and his wife Alda of New Durham, NH, and the late James Vorce.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Mrs. Shagoury’s funeral in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 4-8 PM.
