Therese M. (Toupin) Soucy 92, of Cataumet, MA died Wednesday in the Royal Megansett Nursing Home, N. Falmouth, MA after a brief illness. Mrs. Soucy was the wife of the late Adelard L. Soucy. She was born in Manville, RI a daughter of the late Louis and Laura (Godin) Toupin, but was a Woonsocket resident most of her life. In addition, she was a resident of the Villa at St. Antoine, for several years, and in the last two years of her life had been a resident of Cataumet, MA living with her daughter Charlotte Soucy. She was a medical secretary for Dr. Medoff for many years before retiring in 1948, to become a full time homemaker. In addition to caring for her family, she operated several small home businesses including jewelry sales and Stanley Home Products. She was a member of the YWCA for many years, the Woonsocket Beethoven Club, was a member of Les Dames Richelieu, the Woonsocket Jayceettes, and served in positions of leadership in many of these organizations. She was also a member of La Societe Francophone de Cape Cod. She enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, painting watercolors, ceramics and crafts.
Besides her daughter Charlotte, she is survived by a sister Lucille Hurley of Havertown, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Soucy is predeceased by her daughter Priscilla Soucy and her brother Dr. Eugene Toupin.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Agatha's Church, Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in ST. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of one's choice, in her memory would be appreciated.
