Ruth Ann Surprenant, of Tewksbury
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend
TEWKSBURY: Ruth A. (Rice) (Hall) Surprenant, age 75, died on Thursday, May 26, 2011, after a long illness.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Ruth (Garner) (Rice) Eaton and the late James Rice. Ruth was the beloved mother of the late Candace Kane Hall, who passed away February 10, 2007.
Before retiring, Ruth enjoyed working with her daughter for many years at New England Hair Illusions and previously at Tewksbury Hospital as a dietary aide.
Family and friends would describe Ruth as the "Bell of the Ball", enjoying her family, dancing, puzzles, playing cards and her visits to Mohegan Sun.
Her love of Country Western music inspired her to become a published songwriter that brought her to Nashville, TN on several occasions.
Ruth was always caring, generous and thoughtful. Always there when you needed a helping hand.
She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Deborah K. Hall of Townsend, Linda M. Trites of Tewksbury; one son, Howard D. Hall and his wife Justine of Tewksbury; one sister, Betty L. Sargent of Tewksbury; two brothers, Gary and Ronnie Eaton of South Lowell; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and long-time companion, Richard Surprenant of Tewksbury. Jehovah Witness were her beliefs and attended Kingdom Hall in Wilmington.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by a graveside service at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Tewksbury Community Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
