Bette Lue Stairs, 85, of Derry, NH, died Saturday May 28, 2011 in her home. She was born in Blaine, ME on May 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Othello and Vivian C. (Thompson) Beem. Mrs. Stairs grew up in Maine, met her husband in Old Towne, and got married in Mars Hill. She enjoyed crocheting, playing games, sewing, baking, and traveling.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Stairs of Georgia, Richard Stairs of Nashua, NH, and David Stairs of Texas; three daughters, Brenda Cleveland of Derry, Donna Allaire of Florida, and Sheila LaDue of Nashua; 27 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Milton Beem of Nashua, and Ronal Beem of Connecticut; three sisters, Claudette Hoke of Florida, Donna Kingsbury of Maine, and Carol Andrews of Georgia; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jesse E. Stairs, and her daughter, Vivian Stairs.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, June 1st from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the funeral home.
