Lawrence, Ma. – John Dmytrow 74, died Thursday May 26, 2011 at the Hannah Duston Nursing Home in Haverhill, Ma.
John was born in Lawrence son of the late John and Sofie (Halatka) Dmytrow respectively of the Ukraine and Austria.
For many years he had been employed at the Raytheon, Company of Andover before his retirement.
John was very involved with the Lawrence and Methuen Senior Citizens, and loved to volunteer in whatever capacity he was needed.
According to an article printed in a local newspaper; He was one of the noblest people in the city of Lawrence. During the Sullivan administration John was a regular at the City Council meetings because of his love for Lawrence. When contacted Mike Sullivan was said to be very sorry when John became ill. Looking back the last ten years it was the classic guys like John that always brought to light his main issue being the “elderly” said Sullivan. Mr. Dmytrow was thrilled to know that on May 19th, 2011, the unfinished space on the second floor of the Lawrence Senior Center was finally finished and inaugurated.
Survivors include sisters Mary Hamel, and Helen Borysek, and nephews Richard and his wife Marlene Croteau, and Thomas Borysek and other nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
John was predeceased by his sisters Olga Grasso and Anne Russo and a brother Walter Dmytrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with entombment to follow in Saint Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
Friends will be warmly received on Wednesday morning from 9:00 – 10:45 AM. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
