Ruth A. Schur of Webster Groves, MO.,entered the church triumphant on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born on September 24, 1918 in Webster, MA., a daughter of Rudolph and Augusta Freytag, and married Bernard W. Schur on August 31, 1940.
Ruth lived a full life of faith and service. She served the elderly as a nurse for many years in nursing homes in the Webster area. During WWII, she was a trained watchperson and spotter for enemy planes. She served God as a faithful, lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford, and was also on the Tri-Valley Board of Directors, receiving the Board Member of the Year award.
Ruth was fond of music, particularly hymns and big-band selections. Her love of family came second only to her love for God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard who died in 1964, and is survived by four children: Doris Watters and her husband James of Palm Harbor, FL., Edna May Opatka of South Grafton, MA., Allan Schur and his wife Sharon of Bellevue, NE., and Janyce Duesenberg and her husband Brent of Sunset Hills, MO. She is also survived by seven granchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford, MA. at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 with a Graveside Service immediately following at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Webster.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Laclede Groves via LSS Benevolent Fund, 1150 Hanley Industrial Ct., St. Louis, MO 63144; or to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford, MA. 01540.

The Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., is assisting Ruth's family with arrangements.
