Omaree Vickers Meeks, age 86, Nicholls, GA passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Satilla Hospice in Waycross, GA. Mrs. Meeks was born in Coffee County, GA to the late Mitchell and Nellie Purvis Vickers on October 15, 1924. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nicholls Baptist Church. Mrs. Meeks was the widow of David Willard Meeks. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at
11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with interment following in the Roberts Cemetery near Nicholls. Survivors include: daughter: Daveen Smith, Nicholls, GA; sons: Darrell (Brenda) Meeks, Stockbridge, GA; Charles D. Meeks and Michael R. Meeks, both of Nicholls, GA; sister: Allowee Grantham, Augusta, GA; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,the family requests donations be made to the Nicholls Baptist Church or American Cancer Society. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
