METHUEN – Roland E. Pare of Methuen passed away May 22, 2011 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre surrounded by his family.
Born in Quebec, Canada he was the son of Joseph and Delia (Labreque) Pare. He moved to the United States as a child and was raised in the Tower Hill section of Lawrence. He was one of thirteen children, and was educated in Lawrence Schools. He was a self employed carpenter until his retirement in 1979.
Roland was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish of Methuen. For four years he served in the United States Air Corp during World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, China, Burma, and India, as an airplane and engine mechanic. Roland received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, the American Campaign Ribbon and was honorably discharged from service.
He met and married his soul mate and best friend Margie (Malone) in 1948. Together they built their home and raised their family in Methuen, sharing 63 years of marriage until her passing in July of 2010. Roland was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, where one could always hear Roland routing for his team. In his fifties he took up skiing with the family and skied well into his seventies. He was also very active with dancing belonging to several line and square dancing clubs with his wife in the Merrimack Valley. Roland’s most concern was his love and welfare of his family.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Jane Das and her husband Stanley, Jr., who was like a son to him. A son Ronald J. and his wife Maryann of Manchester, NH.
Grandchildren Andrea R. Das, his love and Guardian Angel, Eric J. Das, who he always enjoyed discussing sports with and Matthew J. Pare of New Boston, NH.
Brother and sister-in-law Gerard and Helen Pare of Lowell, MA. Sister-in-law Bertha Malone of Methuen, MA.
Several Nieces and nephews.
Roland’s family would like to personally thank the entire staff at Nevins for the wonderful care given to their dad for the past two years and Beacon Hospice for their support.

Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:00a.m. – 10:30a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, MA with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen, MA.
