Obituary

Edith “Edie” E. (Pruell) McKenna, 90, of Franklin died May 24 in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the wife of the late Raymond F. McKenna who died in 1997.
Born in Walpole, December 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Walsh) Pruell, Mrs. McKenna was raised in Walpole and had lived in Franklin for over 60 years.
A graduate of Walpole High School, Mrs. McKenna had been the manager of the Dean Jr. College Bookstore for 25 years before retiring.
Mrs. McKenna had been a volunteer at Southwood Hospital in Norfolk and had been active in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin.
Edie was an enthusiastic Democrat and had been a member of the Franklin Democratic Town Committee for many years.
Edie was always helping others.
In addition to her family, she enjoyed golfing and reading.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen M. Madonna and her husband Richard of Sebastian, Florida and her son William McKenna and his wife Linda of Franklin.
She was the last of nine children.
She is also survived by her grandsons, Keith and Ryan Pickard and Jeff Crisafulli.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 28 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s’ Association of Mass., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02466.
