WORCESTER___Charles W. Swicklas, 86, of 5 Rose Lane died Friday Jan. 30 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Shirley M. (Senecal) Swicklas; three daughters, Jean S. Dawson and Joan A. Olson both of Worcester and Joyce K. Nelson of Millbury; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of William and Antoinette (Yuskavich) Swicklas and lived here all his life.
Mr. Swicklas worked in the Traffic Dept. for the City of Worcester 10 years and retired in 1982. Before then he was a wire drawer 30 years for American Steel & Wire Co.
He was a veteran of World War II serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Swicklas took part in the Allied invasion at Normandy. He was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church.
The funeral will be held on Monday Feb. 2 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
