Mrs. Susie Elizabeth Shaw Gordon, age 92, widow of the late Pat Gordon, of Pinnacle, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home. She was born in Surry County on September 9, 1918 to the late Zeb D. and Mary Ester Cook Shaw. Mrs. Gordon was a farmer, homemaker and a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Gordon is survived by one daughter, Patricia Gordon Martin of Pinnacle; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Timothy and Martha Gordon of Pinnacle; three grandchildren, Marlene Yavonne Martin (Clark Johnson), Mondell Martin, Jr. (Teresa) and Michele Tuttle (Curt Bryant); six great-grandchildren, Beth Bledsoe McClaugherty (Derek), Abby Bledsoe Holyfield (Tony), Laura Martin (Joel Hooks), Taylor Martin, Amanda Uhl (Jonah), Christian Tuttle and Cameron Tuttle; six great-great grandchildren, Megan McClaugherty, Molly McClaugherty, Eli Holyfield, David Uhl, Maddie Uhl, Asher Uhl; three step great granddaughters; two step great grandsons; and one step great great granddaughter. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Gordon; two brothers and a sister, Herbert Shaw, Gilmer Shaw and Treva House; and one son-in-law, Mondell Martin Sr. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Olive Grove Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Mitch Robertson officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Olive Grove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olive Grove Baptist Church, 2131 Volunteer Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
