Obituary

Marilyn A. (Leclerc) LaChapelle, 82, of Salem, MA, died peacefully Sunday evening, May 22, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Albert A. LaChapelle, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn in 1929, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Gelineau) Leclerc, she was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1946. She attended Burdette School of Business in Boston and enjoyed a long and varied career, beginning as an operator at New England Telephone. She worked at J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and was the principle clerk of the Salem Fire Department for 11 years. After working at Colonial Savings Bank in Danvers, she finished her career at Puritan Medical Associates in Salem, retiring in 1990 to travel with her husband and enjoy her grandchildren.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by three daughters, Lynn Lavoie and her husband Gerard of Salem, Nancy Hereijgers and her husband Wilhelmus of Londonderry, NH and Laurie LaChapelle and her husband David Leach of Salem, She was the proud Memere of Brian Lavoie of Rowley, Brett Lavoie of Arlington VA, James LaChapelle of Freemont, NH, Stacey (LaChapelle) Abbatessa of Danvers, Julie (LaChapelle) Macsata of Beverly, Adriaan and Kristiaan Hereijgers of Londonderry, NH and Victoria and Nathaniel Leach of Salem, as well as eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by several cherished cousins, Theresa and Stanley Bekeritis of Salem, and Denise Cloutier of Beverly, two sisters in law, Alda LaChapelle of Salem, and Therese LeVasser of Miami Shores, FL and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Marc A. LaChapelle.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 8:45 a.m. to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
