AUBURN-Arthur Dyson, 93, of Auburn died Thursday, January 29th in the Life Care Center of Auburn after a short illness. His wife Georgianna M. (Chaffee) Dyson died in 1960. He leaves his caregivers; granddaughter Deborah G. Terrien-Shelton wife of Morris L. Shelton and niece Marion A. Dyson all of Auburn. 2 granddaughters Sheila S. and Mary J. Berger both of Worcester, 4 great-grandchildren Melissa D. Terrien and Angela Shelton both of Worcester, Rebecca L. Shelton of Auburn and Tyrell N. Moore of Worcester, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.His daughter Janet May Berger died in 1983; 15 brothers and sisters Harry, Frederick, Joseph, Herbert, Thomas and William Dyson, Laura Parmenter, Mary Douillette, Martha Dickson, Bessie Dyson, Baby Dyson and two sets of twins Victor Dyson and Violet Benoit and James and Elizabeth Dyson predeceased him.
He was born in South Worcester the son of James and Elizabeth (Hughes) Dyson and lived in Auburn for 67 years. He had been a baker for over 50 years and at one time owned and operated 3 Dyson’s Bakery locations. Mr. Dyson also had worked as a head cook for 2 state hospitals until he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Worcester, an Auburn Town Meeting member for over 40 years and volunteered at the Auburn Senior Center for over 20 years. Mr. Dyson enjoyed town politics, campaigning and playing whist; he loved dancing, his family and his dog.
The funeral is Monday, February 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2 Airport Drive, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Sunday, February 1st from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
