ROCKINGHAM: Mr. Olin Dellano Moates, 75, of 136 Kimmer Rd., Rockingham, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 in Rockingham Manor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, at Southside Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Ricky Jacobs officiating. Internment will follow in Chatham Hills Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
Olin was born in Newberry, South Carolina on November 19, 1935 to the late William E. and Ellen Black Moates. He attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired Security Guard and Truck Driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Moates, a sister, Elizabeth Moates, and a grandson, Christopher Moates.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Louise Lassiter Moates of the home; six sons, James D. Moates of Darlington, SC, William W. Moates and Larry D. Moates both of Batesburg, SC, Kenneth Moates, Harvey E. Motes, and Wesley K. Moates all of Rockingham; four brothers, Bill Moates of Silverstreet, SC, Earl Moates of Trenton, SC, Bobby Moates of Gaffney, SC, Luther Moates of Ruther Glen, VA; three sisters, Mickey Terry and Rachael Preston both of Newberry, SC, Earline Foster of Anderson, SC; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-3PM prior to the service at Southside Freewill Batist Church, and other times at 136 Kimmer Rd., Rockingham.
