Shirley M. (Furneaux) Begg age 89 of Salem, NH, died Saturday at Salemhaven Nursing Home, Salem, NH.
She was born in Lawrence, MA, where she grew up and attended schools, and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. She was a resident of Salem for the past 58 years.
Shirley was the first female uniformed Police Officer for the town of Salem, NH, and worked for them for 22 years, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Salem, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Rainbow Girls in Lawrence MA. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband John Begg.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26th at 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 25th from 4-8 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
