Mrs. Vera Carver, age 93, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, May 22. 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Carver was born on March 6, 1918 to the late Charlie and Easter Pridgen Harper in Coffee County, GA and she is the widow of Vince Carver She had work as a seamstress for Dresses & Dreams; she was the last charter member of St. Ella Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Ella Baptist Church with burial following in the Satilla Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Carver will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Survivors include: daughter: Othelia Thomas, Douglas, GA; son: Carroll (Ruth) W. Carver, Willacoochee, GA; grandchildren: Marc (Cindy) Thomas, Douglas, GA, Denise (Benji) Dyal, Madison, FL, Becky Carver, Douglas, GA; great granddaughter: Cali Dyal; great grandson: Vince Thomas; sister: Elizabeth (Leonard) Paulk, Ambrose, GA; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Sims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
