Charlton/Worcester
Richard Allen McCombe, 80, of South West Cut-Off, formerly of Charlton, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in Sandalwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Oxford.
He leaves behind one daughter; Lisa K. Koykka and her husband Michael of Worcester, one son, Richard A. McCombe, Jr., of San Diego,CA., two grandchildren; Violet and Anton, and one sister; Claire Drohen of Agawam.
Richard was predeceased by a daughter; Clara McCombe and a brother; Harold McCombe, Jr., and one sister; Annette Fearn.
He was born in Chicopee, son of Harold and Annette (Gagnon) McCombe, Sr.and lived in Charlton for many years, before moving to Worcester.
Richard was a Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member and past commander of Charlton Post # 391, American Legion, a member of the Charlton Grange, loved to walk, enjoyed gardening, bowling and golf.
Any function in Charlton, he was there, always helping others.
He loved his grandchildren enormously.
Calling Hours will be Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at the Robert J. Miller-Charlton Funeral Home, 175 Old Worcester Rd. followed by a service at 8 PM.
Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam.
