Marguerite M. Gorman, age 92, of Brockton died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Hearthstone at Heights Crossing. She was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Edward F. and Catherine (Kenny) Gorman and was a lifelong resident of the city. Marguerite was a 1936 graduate of Brockton High School and worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 37 years. She was the first female IRS Revenue Officer in Massachusetts.
Marguerite was a longtime member of The Charity Guild, Twentieth Century Catholic Club, Catholic Charities, and the Brockton Library Foundation. She was a lifelong avid Red Sox fan, and she was very involved with her family and enjoyed traveling with them.
Marguerite was the beloved and very special aunt of Katherine Twohig Cooper and her husband Wes of St. Petersburg, FL; Michael J. Twohig and his wife Carole of Simsbury, CT; Paul R. Gorman and his wife Cathy of Brockton; John J. Gorman, Jr. and his wife Constance of Phoenix, AZ; Thomas E. Gorman and his wife Janet of Dedham; and Edward F. Gorman and his wife Linda of Millers, MD. She is also survived by her very dear sister-in-law Margaret M. Gorman of Brockton and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Catherine M. Gorman, Helen T. Twohig, Edward J. Gorman, and John J. Gorman.
Marguerite’s family would like to thank the staff of Hearthstone at Heights Crossing and Season’s Hospice for their compassionate care over the past few months.
Visiting hours will be held at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St., (Rte 123), Thursday, May 26, 2011, from 4-7 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 8 am, followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
