Obituary

Whitman – John W. “Jack” Purssell, III 77 died Saturday May 21 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Edwina “Nina” (Sylvester) Purssell.

Born and raised in Milton he was the son of the late John W. Jr. and Marie (Durell) Purssell and a graduate of Milton High School.

He was a proud veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force.

Before his retirement he worked many years as a kitchen designer at the former Home Quarters of Brockton.

John had been a longtime active resident of Whitman for over 46 years, serving on the local planning board.

In addition to his wife Nina he is survived by his loving children John E. Purssell and his wife Michelle of Brockton, Darren L. Purssell of Whitman and Jody Purssell of Hull, his sisters Linda Emanche of Fl and Barbara Paige of Carver. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeffery, Richard and Stephanie Purssell.

His services will be held Thursday May 26 at 8:15 AM from Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday May 25 from 4-8 PM.
