Frederick R. Cox, Sr., a resident of Medford for more than 53 years, formerly of Holbrook and beloved husband of Marjorie R. (Fraser) Cox, died on May 19, 2011, at the LifeCare Nursing Center in Stoneham. He was 77 years old. Born in Abington, Massachusetts, on December 18, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Norman R. and Doris A. (Daley) Cox. Fred was a Korean Conflict Army veteran, honorably discharged after being disabled in 1952. In civilian life, Mr. Cox worked as a manager for several retail business’. In his spare time he enjoyed studying American history. He always loved helping people. In recent years he enjoyed caring for the children at the bus stop outside his home. Besides his beloved wife, Marjorie, Fred will be very sorely missed by his six loving children; Frederick R. and his wife Nanci H. Cox, Jr. of Sutton, Bruce S. and his wife Mary Anne Cox of Mine Hill, New Jersey, Wendy L. Cox of Stoneham, Joseph R. and his wife Karen Cox of Stoneham, Carla P. Cox of Medford and Laura H. and her husband Richard Gazza of Lexington, devoted sister; Barbara A. Dasilva of Bridgewater and Florida, cherished grandchildren; Jonathan, the late Adam, Matthew, Patrick, Daniel, Sarah, Amanda, Ashley, Dalton, Nathan, Nicholas, Jake, dear great-grandchildren; James and Adam and many nieces and nephews. He was the adopted grandfather of Michael and Christina Romano. Fred was also the brother of the late Norman R. Cox and Carol O'Neal. His Funeral Service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Visiting hours were held, in the funeral home, on Monday, May 23, 2011, from 6 to 8 PM. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
