Lois Mae (Clement) Stone of Brockton died Friday May 20, 2011 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry H. Stone for 50 years. Lois leaves her devoted daughter Diane (Stone) Dodge and her husband Randolph with whom she made her home for the past six years; her beloved grandchildren Rev. Christopher Dodge and his fiancée Lynne Daige and Stacey Hinckley and her husband Rev. Bernard Hinckley and her adored great grandchildren Julia and Alexandra Hinckley. Lois also leaves two very close cousins Jane Dole and her husband Alan and their daughter Kim Allen and Mary Eason and her husband Donald. Lois was like a sister to the late Phyllis and Morton Shurtleff.
Lois was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Taylor) Clement and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Following her graduation from Brockton High School in 1938, Lois was a supervisor and instructor for the New England Telephone Company. She was later a receptionist and switchboard operator for the Plymouth County Superior and Probate Courts in Brockton for many years.
She had been a member of the Junior Women’s Club, PM Club, Brockton Historical Society and the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary. Lois was also a member of Christ Congregational Church for over 50 years and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 5-8 pm. Her funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 am in Christ Congregational Church UCC, 1350 Pleasant Street, Brockton. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
