Lawrence, MA – Olive G. (LaPorte) Clarke, 99 yrs. died Thursday May 19, 2011 at the Berkeley Nursing Center in Lawrence.
Born in Lowell, Ma. January 10, 1912 Olive was the daughter of Henry and Aurelie (Lemaire) LaPorte. She graduated from Lowell High School.
A resident of Methuen for more than 60 years, Olive had been a bookkeeper in the accounting office for the Town of Methuen. And prior to her retirement she had been employed with the Methuen School Department.
Olive was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen and for many years because she was so talented as a seamstress made all of the Christening Bibs at Church, and was also a member of the Altar Guild. Mrs Clarke enjoyed gardening and was the youngest and last of 15 children.
The widow of J. Arthur Clarke; survivors include children Aurelie B. and husband George G. Blanchard of Methuen, and son David C. and wife Marianne Clarke of California.
Grandchildren David, Gregg, Michelle, Aurelie, Paul, David J. and Cynthia, 15 great grandchildren 2 great greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends will be warmly received on Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 10:45 A.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen, MA.
