Raynham – George R. Moreau 81 formerly a long time resident of Brockton died Friday May 20 after a period of failing health. He was the former husband of Phyllis (Aikens) Moreau.
Born and raised in Brockton he was the son of the late Romeo F. and Jenny (Enquist) Moreau and a graduate of Brockton High.
George worked many years as a Transportation Officer for the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, retiring as a Captain.
Before his move to Raynham 16 years ago he had been a life long resident of Brockton, and was a member of the Enterprise Club and the Vega Club both of Brockton.
For many years George truly enjoyed playing pinochle with his treasured “Thursday Group”.
In addition to his former wife Phyllis he is survived by his children Marie L. Snow and her husband Pete of Savannah, GA, Dennis W. Moreau of Daytona, FL, and Paula E. Gill and her husband Frank of East Bridgewater, and his sister Noella Van Buskirk of FL. He was the beloved grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and was the father of the late Kenneth W., Arthur T. and Bruce D. Moreau. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law Kristin Moreau and Janine Moreau.
His funeral service will be held Sunday May 22 at 3 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 1 – 3 PM.
