Bridgewater –Alice C. (McGuirk) Lane 89, formerly of Whitman, died Thursday May 19 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence J. Lane.
Born and raised in Revere she was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Lomasney) McGuirk and a graduate of Revere High School Class of 1939.
Alice had worked many years for the Eastern Edison Company before retiring in 1984.
Before her move to Bridgewater, Alice had been a long time resident of Whitman and a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.
She is survived by her loving children Edward L. Lane and his wife Catherine of Washington, Leo T. Lane and his wife Vicki of Texas, Lawrence J. Lane and his wife Sheila of Andover, Mary C. Lane of Bridgewater, Elizabeth Arcidiacono and her husband Alfred of Iowa, and Alice C. Lane of Bridgewater, and her brother Joseph McGuirk of Virginia. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John, James, and Arthur McGuirk and Mary Ross.
Her services will be held Wednesday May 25 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a 9 AM mass in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday May 24 from 4-8 PM.
