DAVID F. LEWIS, SR., age 72, a resident of Hull for over 40 years, died on Thursday, Jan. 29th at the Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate after a long illness.Mr. Lewis was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Mission Hill. He worked in the Lewis family fruit and produce business, Villa Farms, with stores in West Roxbury and Hull. He then served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1992 retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Following his military career, he worked part time for the Stop & Shop in Cohasset. He was an active member and past president of the Hull Lion's Club and was also a member of the Wessagusset V.F.W. in Weymouth.Husband of the late Patricia (Shack) Lewis, he leaves his son, David F. Lewis, Jr. of Hull and daughter, Josephine R. McKinnon of Rockland. He was the brother of Ronald J. Lewis of Foxboro and Eugene Lewis of Arkansas, and grandfather of David F. Lewis, III and Jessica Lewis both of Webster.A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd at 10 AM at St. Ann's Church,corner of Samoset Ave. and Lewis St., Hull.Visiting hours at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hull Lion's Club,P.O. Box 395, Hull, MA 02045.The interment will be in the Hull Village Cemetery.
