Obituary

Thomas D. Morrison, Sr., 79, of Leading Street, died Friday in his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Eileen F. (O’Brien) Morrison. They had been married for 55 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Thomas R. D. and Elizabeth D. (Anderson) Morrison.

He had been an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was an iron worker with Local 37 for more than 30 years before retiring in 1992. Tom had a wonderful retirement wintering in Florida and traveling the U.S. with his wife. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, diving, boating and in recent years wood cutting, starting a small business for himself. His helpfulness and his fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Terrie A. O’Neill and her husband James of Providence, Thomas D. Morrison of Pawtucket, David A. Morrison of North Kingstown and Scott P. Morrison and his wife Stephanie of Providence, grandchildren, James, Thomas and Danielle O’Neill, Daniel, Thomas, III, David, Benjamin and Sophia Morrison and great-grandfather of Brianna, a brother Donald Morrison of Sumter, SC. He was the father of the late Timothy P., Joseph and Daniel E. Morrison and brother of the late
William C. Morrison.

A graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 10am at Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Avenue, Johnston. Visitation respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Pantry, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919 or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
