George A. Briel, 71, of Sunflower Circle, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his devoted family. He was the husband of Carolyn (Leddy) Briel.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a son of the late George H. and Gizella Briel. He had been a resident of North Providence for 47 years.
Mr. Briel was a retired machine operator for General Electric. He was a Navy Veteran. He loved to fix things for his family and friends. He was known for his love of making people laugh and smile.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children David E. Briel and his fiancee Audrey Reder of North Providence, Debbie E. Bartley and her husband Michael of North Scituate and Brenda L. Briel of North Providence and his siblings Ella Derricott of NJ, Robert Briel of, Florida and Doris Jewell of North Carolina.
His funeral service will be Friday at 10am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery.
