Hattie Mae Matthews Saxton, 86, of Tifton died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with family members serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Saxton was born on August 23, 1924 in Hickory, North Carolina and was the daughter of Raymond Matthews and Lillie Heavner Matthews, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Saxton; one daughter, Diane Saxton; one granddaughter, Olivia Saxton; and one sister. She was a homemaker after her retirement from the family dairy farm.
Mrs. Saxton is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Doug and Sally Saxton, Ronald Saxton and Billy and Glenna Saxton, all of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alice Brantley of Tifton and Elaine and Reece Vaughn of Moultrie; five grandchildren, Marcy Saxton, Cathy Saxton, Brian Williams, Michael Barlow and Kayla Saxton; three step-grandchildren, Randall Mullis, Michael Mullis and Ray Mullis; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Saxton, Kenneth Richards, Keon Moate, Dominique Butler and Jacob Saxton.
