Simpsonville, SC – Alfred “Fred” H. Castle, 99, formerly of Worcester died on Sunday, May 15th in the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC after an illness.
Mr. Castle’s wife of 76 years Sylvia E. (Patenaude) Castle died in 2009. He was born in Worcester son of the late William A. and Rosanna (Richard) Castle and worked for the American Furniture Supply Company for 34 years as a shipper until his retirement.
Alfred was predeceased by a son Alfred W. Castle who died in 2009. He is also predeceased by a brother George and four sisters Rose, Dora, Antoinette and Dorothy.
Mr. Castle leaves behind 5 grandchildren Lucinda Arnold and her husband Craig of North Brookfield, MA, Karen Castle of Worcester, Alfred R. Castle and his wife Sally of Easley, SC, William J. Castle of Colorado Springs, CO and Brenda Castle Rambarran of Worcester; 15 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester and previously belonged to Saint Charles Borromeo Church.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church 555 Pleasant St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday, in the funeral home before the funeral to celebrate his reunion with his beloved wife.
