Kenneth Haslam, 76
Retired Accountant for Lucent Technologies


TEWKSBURY: Kenneth Haslam, age 76, a resident for over 48 years, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was the beloved husband of Bernadene M. "Dene" (Bacon) Haslam, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2010.
Born in Methuen on October 15, 1934, he was the son of the late John Haslam and the late Isabella M. (Cruickshank) Haslam.
Ken was raised in Lawrence, attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952.
In 1957, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 40th Ordinance Company until his honorable discharge from active duty on December 24, 1959.
Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was employed as an Accountant for the Finance Department at Lucent Technologies in North Andover, where he worked for 36 years.
Ken was a member, former Deacon, Head Usher, and Assistant Financial Secretary of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.
Ken enjoyed playing the drums and was a member of Clan MacPherson Pipes and Drums of North Andover for over 60 years.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ken is survived by five sons, John B. Haslam and his wife Laura (Holt) of Saco, ME, Robert A. Haslam of Boston, Douglas C. Haslam and his wife Pamela (Perkins) of Newton, William A. Haslam and his wife Amy Graham of Farmington, ME and George D. Haslam and his wife Kelly (Smith) of Harleysville, PA; eight grandchildren, Alexander, Alanna, Spenser, Phoebe, Samuel, Sylvie, Ella and Veronica; numerous cousins including Lynn Cruickshank and Carol Stanwood.
A memorial service celebrating Ken's life will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury. At Ken's request there are No Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Tewksbury, MA 01876. Arrangements entrusted to Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
