HAMILTON, MELBA F. of South Boston was promoted to glory on May 14, 2011. Survived by her dear husband of 67 years Edwin F. of South Boston. Her four daughters: Melba F. Thompson of Billerica, MA; Patricia L. Himes of Erie, CO; Laura J. McDonagh & her husband Colie of South Boston, MA; & N. Leslie Hilton & her husband James of Brighton, MA. Also survived by her brother William Couturier of Florida & sister-in-law to Anna Mae Riley of Florida. Devoted Nana to Kimberly Ann MacLauchlan of Billerica, Ross Hamilton McDonagh of Hoboken, NJ & her two "adopted" grandchildren Ann Marie McDonagh of Canton, MA & Michael McDonagh of South Boston. "O'Nana" to Rachel, Abigail, Jared, Zachary, & Sean. Visiting hours will be held at The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM & 7 to 9 PM. Followed by a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 PM. Former Board Member of the MBTA, past president of the South Boston Resident Group & awesome Girl Scout Leader for Girl Scout Troop 425 & Cadet Troop 68 of South Boston for many years. Lifelong member of the South Baptist Church of South Boston & beloved Sunday School teacher to many. Former volunteer for Boston Partners in Education at the Tynan School in South Boston.
