Marilyn Lee Madden of The Marquardt Center in Waltham, (formerly of Wellesley and Needham) succumbed peacefully on May 16, 2011 after a long, difficult struggle with dementia. Ms. Madden, the daughter of Leo J. and Priscilla (Parmenter) Madden, was predeceased by both parents. She is survived by her sister, Marcia Madden Heist, Marcia’s husband Robert P. and their son, Marilyn’s nephew, David Heist all of Brookline, MA. Marilyn is also survived by her much loved friend, Ann McTigue Schramm and her husband David of Marblehead, MA and many cousins and good friends including the staff and residents of The Marquardt Center and The Charles River Center.
Marilyn was known and admired for her courage in the face of incredible challenges. Her sense of humor, her ability to laugh in the face of profound developmental limitations and her optimistic approach to the challenges presented by those limitations are well known by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 1382 Highland Ave. Needham, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-6 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, 148 Brook St. Wellesley.
