H. Francis Powers age 82 of Brockton died Friday May 13, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Brockton the son of the late Hugh B. and Helena M. (Corcoran) Powers, he was a lifelong resident of the city. Francis attended Brockton High School and had been employed at the former Producers Dairy.
In 1949 he was injured in an automobile accident and as a result of his injuries became a paraplegic. Despite his disability, Francis earned an associate of science degree in 1983 at Massasoit Community College. He had continued his studies at Bridgewater State College.
Francis was a member of the Mass Paraplegic Association, Caffrey Towers Tenants Association and a communicant of St. Colman Church. He will be missed by his extended family at Christos Restaurant where he was a daily luncheon customer.
Francis is survived by his cousins William F. Quinn, Elizabeth A. O’Sullivan, James L. Quinn, Paul M. Quinn, Elaine Iannarone, Kathryn Kelley, Kevin Quinn, and their families. His family would like to thank the staff of Old Colony Elderly Services and Kindred Care Hospital for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St.(Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
