TEWKSBURY: Esther M. (Sanville) Stevenson, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for over 60 years, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at her home, with her family by her side, following a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late George D. Stevenson, who died February 12, 1997.
Born in North Troy, Vermont on November 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Alida (Bracy) Sanville.
Mrs. Stevenson moved to Tewksbury at the age of 13 and attended Tewksbury schools.
She was a longtime communicant and supporter of St. Dorothy’s Church of Wilmington. In addition, she was a member of St. Dorothy’s Church Sodality.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a group leader for the Alfa Company of Woburn and Lawrence. Mrs. Stevenson was previously employed by the Sylvania Corporation.
She was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center, where she participated in weekly card games and activities.
Mrs. Stevenson enjoyed sharing her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending day trips with the Golden Age Club.
She is survived by 1 daughter; Nancy A. Johnston and her husband Donald of North Andover; 1 son; Thomas D. Stevenson of Tewksbury; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.Mrs. Stevenson was the mother of the late Peggy Stevenson Winn.
Calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
