Geraldine Anna Frances Payne (nee) Smith was born to Mary and Victor Smith in Morne Jaloux, St. George, Grenada, April 28, 1919. She is the third of five siblings.
She grew up in Morne Jaloux, and later married Morris Livingston Payne on September 6, 1946 in Belmont, St. George’s Grenada. Of this union, ten (10) children were born. They were blessed with six (6) girls: Joy, Joyce, Lynda, Natalie, Rosemarie, and Jennifer and four (4) boys: Albert, Frederick, Thomas, and Terrence. Geraldine also leaves to cherish her memories several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; as well as one sister; Nella Blaize, of Brooklyn, New York.
Geraldine was a hardworking mom, who had the responsibility of raising her children after the passing of her husband in 1959. She loved to bake and cook, especially at Christmas time, when she made Christmas cake, sorrel, and ginger beer.
Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, 11AM to 1PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Teaneck. A service in honor of Geraldine’s life will commence at 1PM.
