METHUEN – Lionel D. Duhamel 96 died Tuesday May 10, 2011 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
Born in Lawrence, MA on January 6, 1915, he resided in Methuen for his entire life. He was employed as a weaver in the Pacific Mills for many years as well worked in the shoe shops. Later he worked as a millright for Raytheon until his retirement.
Lionel was always very active in his parish church, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen. He served as a collector and most especially as a Eucharistic minister. He was an active member of the Holy Name Society, the Third Order of Mary and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. After his retirement he faithfully administered communion for 25 years to the residents of the Nevins Nursing Home and Day Care Center.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Germaine (Levasseur) Duhamel of Methuen, MA. Daughters Marie Annette Turcotte of Lawrence, MA, Sr. Lucille Duhamel. S.C.I.M. of Biddeford, Maine. One son Paul Duhamel and his wife Linda (Marcello) of Lawrence, MA.
One sister Yvonne Maclean also of Lawrence, MA
Three grandchildren Betty Ann Turcotte, Christina Turcotte and Matthew Duhamel. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of St. Theresa’s Church 22 Plymouth St. Methuen, MA 01844 or to the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre 5 Ingalls Court Methuen, MA. Visiting hours will be held Friday morning from 9:00a.m. – 10:30a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa’s Church Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover, MA.
