
Whitman – Alice M. (Horton) Doherty 69, a resident of Whitman for 18 years died Monday May 9. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. “Red” Doherty.
Born and raised in Roxbury she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Malen) Horton and had attended Boston schools.
Alice had been a longtime resident of Weymouth where she had raised her family. As a resident of Weymouth she had been an active member of The Church of the Holy Nativity and had served on the Church Alter Guild for over 30 years.
Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother and her greatest joy came from the time spent with her children and grandchildren, they were truly the highlight of her life.
She is survived by her loving children Michael Doherty of Abington and Denise Daigneault and her husband David of NH, formerly of Whitman, and her brother Gerald Horton of Brockton. She was the “proud Nana” of Nicholas, Kyle and Justin Daigneault.
Her services will be held Friday May 13 at 9:45 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman followed by a funeral service at 11 AM in the Church of the Holy Nativity, 8 Nevin Road, Weymouth. Burial will follow at 3 PM in the MA VA Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Thursday May 12 from 5-7 PM.
