William A. Reid, 88, of Marion died May 9, 2011 one day before his 89th birthday at Tobey Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Janis E. (Scanlon) Reid with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late William O. and Doris (Daly) Reid, he lived in Wellesley before retiring to Marion in 1990.
Mr. Reid was formerly employed as a sales manager engineer for Westinghouse Electric, American Meter Company and Bay State Gas.
He was a member of New England Gas Association, Guild of Ancient Suppliers and the Reservation Golf Club.
Mr. Reid was a graduate of Manchester Central High School, class of 1939, Tilton School, class of 1941 and Brown University, Class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Judith Kimber and her husband Ron of Pottsville, PA and Deborah Fossett and her husband Ben of Portland, TX; his companion, Judy; a brother, Donald Reid of Glastonbury, CT; a sister, Natalie Walsh of Florida; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Timothy Kimber and the brother of the late Nancy Stewart.
