John Camara, age 62 of Somerset passed away May 8, 2011. He was the husband of Ilda (Ferreira) Camara. Born in Mosteiros, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of Alzira (Ferreira) Camara and the late Domingos de Almeida Camara. Prior to retiring, John was a proprietor of CFP Construction Co. with his brother and brother-in-law. He was a parishioner of St. John of God Church and member of the Holy Ghost Society. He was also a member of the Santo Christo Club of Fall River and he served in Angola for the Portuguese Army.
Besides his wife & mother of Somerset, he was the father of Lisa Mello of Freetown, Sally Almeida (husband Ryan) of Somerset and Leslie Carmo (husband Daniel) of Swansea; grandfather of Taylor John; brother of Maria Fatima Pavao of Somerset, Joseph Camara of Swansea, Maria Salome Ferreira of Swansea, Maria dos Anjos Silva of Fall River and Natalie Baptista of Somerset and the uncle to many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River THURSDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours WEDNESDAY 4-8 P.M.
